It's official

My Cup of Coffee in the big leagues is officially over. So much for talking loud and proud.8) I have been doing a few level 30 problems everyday but it appears I need a massive dose to stay playing at a higher level.

but perhaps there is hope. This am, my play as black against the Caro-kahn rated at 1840 . Had a won endgame but let it slip away. Still have some endgame study to do. I blundered the last pawn but still think at that point it may of been a draw.

Before 48.Kh4?? you had winning chances. 48.Re6! - you attack the h-pawn 48...Rh7 - Black's rook must passively defend 49.Ra6! - you're threatening his pawn and Ra8! Kc8 Ra7! winning his rook. 49...Kc8! - defending both threats. If your opponent missed 49...Kc8!, you would have had a quick win.

If your opponent saw Kc8, your position still looks favorable. His king is far from the h-file and has to constantly watch for skewers. His rook must passively defend the h-pawn because if the h-pawn falls, you have a winning ending. In some lines you might sacrifice your rook for his h-pawn and have a winning Pawns vs Rook ending. I would certainly rather be playing White!

I ran the position by Rybka 2.3.2mp and Fritz 5.3.2, and they say it is completely won. Apparently, 48.Ra3 is a slight improvement.

Where did Takchess go? Now that his leg is healed, he has run away from us :)
